As We Gather
Why did Jesus come to be our Savior? Why was He born?  Why did He live His sinless life?  Why did He set His face toward the cross?  Why did He suffer and die?  The answer is the heart of the Christian faith:  Christ came for us, lived for us, died for us, rose for us.

Our Lent Sunday series this year is entitled “For Us.”  Each week we will focus on a different aspect of what Christ has done for us, and who He is for us.  This week’s theme is “Patient for Us.”  In the parable of the fig tree, we see not only Jesus’ desire that we repent and bear fruit.  We also see His patience as He calls us again and again to repent and return to Him.

Lent Midweek Service March 26
My Shepherd – He Refreshes Me
Our Lent midweek series on Psalm 23 continues next Wednesday as we focus on Psalm 23:4.  “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).  When we find ourselves in troubling, difficult, or painful times, we may feel that our shepherd has abandoned us.  But the truth is that He is still with us to comfort us and lead us through that dark valley. The service is at 7:00 PM, preceded by a soup supper in the parish hall at 6:00 PM.

“You’re invited to join us for breakfast on Easter Sunday. We will begin serving food at 9am and continue to serve through 10:30am to ensure that you can enjoy breakfast no matter which worship service you choose. This is a free breakfast for everybody however the St. John’s youth appreciate any donations made and will utilize them to fund the National Youth Gathering trip in July.”

Hearing Loop in the Sanctuary

We are pleased to announce that the hearing loop system is fully integrated now with the new sound system.  For those who have t-coil technology in their hearing aids, the system will connect directly to your hearing aids. For all others who desire hearing assistance in worship, please stop by the sound tech before the service for a transmitter and headphones.

Church Office Manager

We are thankful for the service of Christy Kramer as our office manager for many years.  That service concludes on April 30 with her retirement.  We are currently looking for a new office manager.  We are also open to the position being shared by two people. For the position description, please click here:  St. John’s Church Office Manager.   To inquire about this position, please contact the church office or Pastor Mike Schmid (pastormike@stjohnsnapa.org).

Worship Preparation TeamOur worship prep teams prepare the sanctuary for worship each Sunday.  One of the main ways they serve is preparing the elements for Communion.  But their service also includes making sure the candles have oil, paraments and banners reflect the season, and more.  We are looking for people willing to serve in this way.  This is a great way for families to serve together!  If you have questions, please contact Pastor Mike.
