As We Gather

One of the blessings of the story we are living is that we know the ending. Like looking to the end of novel to know how it ends, our reading from Revelation shows us how the story ends for the people of God. Because of Easter, eternity is sure for those who follow Christ. John has seen us there! And no matter how difficult the struggle, how many the obstacles, or how challenging the road, nothing can take away the certainty of the glorious conclusion.

Our worship today includes the “Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.” We remember those in our St. John’s family who, in the past year, have been gathered to the Lord. We give thanks for their faith, as we pray for all who, by grace, are counted among the saints today.

Fall Work Day Follow-Up
Many thanks to all who volunteered in the drizzle last Saturday to help at our Fall Work Day! With your help, we were able to spread in Faith Chapel all the mulch we received (which was not quite enough for the whole area; stay tuned for the next Work Day, possibly in the Spring). Thank you as well to Thrivent for sponsoring the event and to Bill Clark for coordinating the sponsorship. Hopefully you had the chance to get your Thrivent “Live Generously” t-shirt at the Work Day, but if you didn’t, they are available in the Church Office in sizes Medium and X-Large. Feel free to drop by to pick one up, or reach out to Kristy Watkins at churchoffice@stjohnsnapa.org.

Pastor Mike’s Bible Class – 1 John: Walking in the Light of God’s Love
Join us on Sundays for a study of 1 John. In this poetic sermon by John, he paints a compelling picture of the Christian life as walking in the light and living in God’s love. John emphasizes authentic discipleship, urging followers to live in the truth, reject false teaching, and demonstrate love not just in word but in action. In so doing, we live in the fellowship God has given us – with Himself and with one another. When we finish 1 John, we will go on to 2 and 3 John. We will be meeting in Room 8 at 11:00 AM.

🌟 St. John’s Fam, Advent will be here before you know it! 🌟
Advent is just around the corner, and with it our Wednesday evening services—a midweek pause to breathe, reflect, and gather. And of course, no Advent Wednesday is complete without our tradition of soup suppers beforehand.

This is more than just a meal. It’s a chance to sit shoulder-to-shoulder, share stories, laugh a little, and warm up together before stepping into the evening service.

Here’s what to know:

• Soup suppers happen before each Wednesday service.
• Gather your group, your family, or your “secret recipe squad” and think about hosting one of the suppers.
• We invite volunteers to help set up, serve food (2-3 soups, a salad (optional), and a dessert or two), and help clean up. If you’d like to volunteer for one of the suppers, sign-ups will be available starting November 3 at this link.

Let’s make this Advent season one where the tables are full, the soup pots are stirred with love (and maybe a little friendly competition), and the midweek gatherings feel like the heartbeat of our community.
